The CHIRP Charitable Trust announces a new Chair of Trustees

The Board of Trustees of the CHIRP Charitable Trust are delighted to announce the appointment of Ruth Kaufman OBE as Chair of Trustees on the retirement of Captain David Harrison from the role.

In welcoming Ms Kaufman, Captain Harrison said “The Board has been through a really constructive discussion over the past 18 months as regards the future of the Trust and it has been my great privilege to lead them through that process, and to serve previously as a Trustee. I am delighted that Ruth has now been appointed to take the Trust through the next phase of its development. Her background in Operational Research, and her ability to address the full range of our activities with her experience, together with her deep knowledge of Charity governance, is exactly what CHIRP needs. I know that the sector experience of the Board, combined with a deeper focus on charitable operations, will serve our beneficiaries well.”

On accepting the role Ms Kaufman said “When I saw the role advertised I knew immediately that it resonated strongly with me. I am honoured to have been chosen to lead the Board on its journey and very much look forward to absorbing myself in the work of the Trust.  I very much look forward to meeting our staff, funders and wide body of stakeholders in the months ahead as we work together to develop the future strategy for the Trust.”

Captain Harrison will chair his final Board meeting and AGM on 6th October 2020 before then handing over the role of Chair of Trustees.

The search process was conducted in line with Charity Commission best practice and the Trust utilised the services of Nurole Ltd to coordinate the process and conduct the administration. The participation of the Whitehall and Industry Group was appreciated.
